Two Families, Two Farms, One Brand.

Basalt Hills Beef and Lamb Co is based in the heart of the beautiful, fertile Western Districts of Victoria across two family properties - one beef and one lamb.

Proudly delivering quality pasture-raised beef and lamb hampers to selected areas across Victoria.

We raise F1 Wagyu Beef (which is a first cross wagyu with a black angus cow and a wagyu bull) and Low Carbon Lamb on our clover, rye and natural based pastures. Our sheep and cattle are pasture raised, meaning they spend a large portion of their lives on pasture. When seasons dictate, our animals are supplemented in paddock with hay and or grain to keep them happy and healthy.

We take pride in breeding our sheep and cattle and the care we provide our animals. We believe in the importance of transparency and traceability and our commitment to ethical and humane practices ensures our lambs and cattle are raised with care.

As family run enterprises our commitment to sustainable farming practices means our sheep and cattle are raised in a stress-free environment, resulting in high-quality and flavoursome meat for your family table. Raising our children in this environment creates an appreciation for land and animal welfare and contributes to a generation that values environmental stewardship.

By choosing our curated hampers of beef and lamb, you are not only savouring the delicious rich flavours and tenderness that comes from well raised animals but also supporting local farmers and sustainable agriculture.

Meet the Families behind the Farms

Simon and Keri Ross

Located in the heart of the beautiful South West of Victoria’s volcanic rim, North Gums is a sixth generation family farm that has been growing and nurturing the land for over 150 years. Simon and Keri are committed to raising healthy livestock, high quality crops and focusing on land stewardship for future generations. Keri grew up on a cattle station in the Kimberley and still struggles with winter! Their four children have been raised with a deep connection to nature and a strong sense of responsibility both for animals and the land that sustains their livelihoods

Paul and Megan Mould

Originally hailing from pastoral country in South Australia and New South Wales, Paul and Megan made the move to Western Victoria 11 years ago, purchasing their Mt Koroite property in an effort to consolidate their land holding in more productive country. Their vision, along with their three children is to continually improve their property, growing quality pastures and investing in genetics to produce premium cattle raised with care and attention to ethical practices
